On August 30-31, UEC hosted the seventh IWMST（International Workshop on Modern Science and Technology）in cooperation with four other member institutes: Kitami Institute of Technology (KIT), Japan, Harbin Engineering University (HEU), Wuhan University of Science and Technology (WUST), China, and Chin-Yi University of Technology (NCUT), Taiwan.

This biennial workshop started off in 2000, and this year, it was UEC’s second turn to be the host in last 10 years.

The seventh workshop opened with a welcome speech by Makoto KAJITANI, UEC President, followed by a plenary session by Ken-ichi UEDA, UEC Professor Emeritus. Then, more than seventy participants proceeded to paper presentation coupled with poster session, focusing on Materials Science and Bioscience, Information Science and Engineering, Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics, Intelligent Systems and Control, and Engineering for Energy, Environment and Infrastructure, in separate rooms to exchange their hard-earned achievements.

Their participation will not only build experience and confidence in expressing themselves in international settings but also lead to further collaboration among the five institutes and development in science technology. Reaffirming its significance, this workshop closed in success. In 2014, the eighth workshop will be held at Wuhan University of Science and Technology (WUST), China.
