Industry-UCB-UEC-Workshop 2017 (IUUWS 2017)【27-28, March 2017】

March 17, 2017

University of California, Berkeley (UCB) is internationally recognized as one of the world’s leading research-based universities, having made major contributions to the global proliferation of information technology, which was born in Silicon Valley in 1980’s, and now forms the backbone for technological innovation across many areas of pure and applied research in both academic and industry. Notably, UCB is also actively engaged in developing Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) in social infrastructure and IoIT (Internet of Important Things), including basic research of fundamental technology and platform systems that revealed the importance of a smart and convenient infrastructure for society to function efficiently.

With this background, the University of Electro-Communications (UEC Tokyo) believes that UCB is an ideal model for UEC Tokyo, and our industrial partners to base our research activities on “Service Infrastructure Technology/Platform”.

Importantly, with the “5th Science and Technology Basic Plan (Society 5.0)” proposed by the Council for Science, Technology and Innovation Cabinet Office, Government of Japan, in mind, UEC Tokyo, has been working actively on the development of fundamental and systems technology to lay the foundations for building innovative service platforms.

Based on the strengths and potential of the two universities on innovative research and development in the aforementioned research fields, UCB and UEC Tokyo, signed a general agreement to promote joint research and education on 25 September 2015.

Now, in order for UCB and UEC Tokyo, to devise effective strategies to realise the Intelligence Service Infrastructure Technology/Platform it is essential to promote close cooperation between the two institutes. Furthermore, to establish close collaborative links with industry, the two universities are planning to implement social innovation platform systems. For this reason, the “Industry-UCB-UEC Workshop 2017” (IUUWS 2017) will be held in March 2017 to discuss the details of “Collaborative Construction of Service Infrastructure Technology/Platform” to realize a super smart society with the cooperation of industry, UCB and UEC Tokyo.

Please send an e-mail to the below address if you can attend the Workshop
We look forward to meeting you on 27-28, March 2017.
