Report:Officials of Thai National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) under Ministry of Science and Technology of Thailand Visited UEC

The official group of NECTEC consisting of three members, Mr. Jessada Jongsukvarakul, Director for International Cooperation and Public Relations Division (ICPR), Ms. Rinnapatch Khongsuksipas, Senior International Relations Officer of ICPR, and Dr. Jessada Karnjana, Head of Embedded System Technology Laboratory in Research Unit of Advanced Automation and Electronics visited UEC on July 13, 2018. They had the courtesy call to the President of UEC and exchanged opinions on the further possibilities and evolution of collaborative education and research activities between UEC and NECTEC.

NECTEC forms a part of National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) under the Ministry of Science and Technology of Thailand (MOST) where it is in charge of the administrative strategy, R&D, technology transfer to Thai academia and industry, and HRD in the field of science and technology, it has promoted the R&D of electronics, computing and ICT since it was established in 1986. UEC contracted MoU with NSTDA for the collaboration of academic activities in 2009 fiscal year, has dispatched a few selected graduate students or research based undergraduate students for their international internship works so far.

The most recent visitors from NSTDA to UEC is Prof. Dr. Pairash Thajchayapong, Senior Advisor of NSTDA and the former Permanent Secretary of MOST, and his colleague, following his visit in January 2016 (See it at https://www.uec.ac.jp/eng/news/announcement/2016/20160413-3.html), Prof. Dr. Takashi Fukuda, President of UEC and Prof. Dr. Shigenori Kino, Board Director of UEC visited NSTDA in Thailand , to attend the signing ceremony for MoU extension agreement (See it at https://www.uec.ac.jp/eng/news/announcement/2016/20160413-2.html). Further collaborations of academic activities will be evolved through the above mentioned visit of NECTEC officials who are in charge of administration of international internship and R&D collaborations, and R&D of advanced science and technology.

Dr. Jessada Karnjana has taken the initiatives in R&D of preventive management of natural disasters covering the multi-sensor based observation, risk management and forecasting by machine learning, of disasters accompanying land sliding in ASEAN region. He exchanged opinions with Prof. Yasuhide Hobara, Heads of the Center for Space Science and Radio Engineering, Earth Environment Research Station, and Research station on Seismo-Electromagnetics, on the occasion of his visit.
