On Saturday, September 6, 2025, the University of Electro-Communications (UEC) held the 12th UEC Seminar at Burapha University (BUU) in, Chonburi Thailand, inviting prominent researchers, government officials, and business representatives from ASEAN countries and affiliated institutions.
The UEC Seminar in ASEAN is an annual event organized by the UEC ASEAN Research and Education Center (UAREC), which has been held every year in the ASEAN region since 2015. This year's seminar marked its 12th edition and was conducted in a hybrid format, combining in-person participation at the local venue with online attendees.
The seminar began with opening speeches by Assoc. Prof. Nattapong Kitsuwan, Director of UAREC, Watcharin Gasaluck, President of BUU, the host university, and UEC President Tano. Following these, a representative from the Embassy of Japan in Thailand and guest speakers from partner universities and research institutions in the ASEAN region delivered addresses. This was followed by an introduction of UEC's research and student exchange programs, presented by Dr. Oya, Member of the Board of Directors for International and Public Relations Strategy.
There were also presentations on UEC's research collaborations with ASEAN countries, as well as programs introduced by institutions like the JSPS Bangkok Office, which operates in the ASEAN region. Additionally, greetings and an introduction of activities were provided by Mr. Mori, Chairman of UEC Alumni Association Megurokai. The seminar concluded with a closing speech from Dr. Oya.
More than 100 participants, including representatives from universities, businesses, and government organizations across ASEAN, attended both in person and online. We extend our deepest gratitude to the speakers and participants for their valuable contributions, and we look forward to further educational and research exchanges between UEC and universities in the ASEAN region.
