Report: International Education Center (IEC) Forum 2025, Discussion Meeting for Expanding International Student Acceptance -Learning from Faculty Expertise and International Student Voices-

2025.11.17

On Friday, November 7, 2025, the International Education Center (IEC) hosted the " International Education Center (IEC) Forum 2025, Discussion Meeting for Expanding International Student Acceptance -Learning from Faculty Expertise and International Student Voices-" in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation.

The International Education Center Forum is held annually as part of our university's initiative to promote globalization. It aims to strengthen and expand the support system for international students and targets faculty, staff, and Japanese/international students.

At this year's forum, the event began with faculty members who are dedicated to advising and educating international students sharing their practical experiences and opinions on "Know-how and Challenges in International Student Acceptance" from the Supervisor's perspective.

Following this, a discussion was held with international students on the theme of "Reasons for Choosing UEC and Campus Life in the UEC," providing a real perspective from the students themselves. This was a valuable opportunity for faculty and staff to directly hear the authentic voices and needs of the international students.

Subsequently, an award of appreciation was presented by Dr. Oya, Member of the Board of Directors for International and Public Relations Strategy to faculty members who have made significant contributions to the acceptance and guidance of international students, honoring their timeless efforts. The recipients this year were: Professor Hiroshi Yokoi, Professor Pham Cong-Kha, Professor Koichi Hirota, Professor Shen Qing, Professor Hiroki Takahashi, Professor Hayaru Shouno, Professor Keiji Yanai, Professor Hiroki Saito, Professor Tang Suhua, Professor Celimuge Wu, Professor Jiang Yinlai, Associate Professor Sun Guanghao, and Associate Professor Liu Zhi.

In this forum, we saw a significantly higher-than-expected turnout of faculty, staff members, and students, including online participants, which reaffirmed the high level of internal interest regarding international student acceptance and support. The information and knowledge gained through this forum will be utilized to further strengthen and improve our international education system and facilities.

Furthermore, a social networking was held after the forum, where participating faculty, staff, and students deepened their interaction beyond the boundaries of their specialized fields and roles in a friendly atmosphere, fostering future collaboration.
