Report : UEC Concludes Agreement For Academic Exchange and Cooperation and a Memorandum of Understanding on Student Exchange with IIT Mandi, India

2026.07.21

On July 17, 2026, The University of Electro-Communications (UEC) concluded an Agreement For Academic Exchange and Cooperation and a Memorandum of Understanding on Student Exchange with the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi), India.

IIT Mandi is a national institute established by the Government of India in 2009 and is one of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). As a research-oriented university, it offers education and conducts research in a wide range of science and engineering fields, including computing and electrical engineering, mechanical and materials engineering, mathematical sciences, and bioengineering. The institute also actively promotes international research collaboration and industry-academia partnerships.

The agreement originated from ongoing academic exchanges between researchers at the two universities. Through collaborative research and regular academic interactions, the two institutions built a strong relationship of mutual trust and discussed expanding their collaboration from the laboratory level to a broader institutional partnership. In March 2026, a researcher from IIT Mandi visited UEC, where detailed discussions were held regarding the conclusion of the agreement.

Through the conclusion of this agreement and memorandum, UEC and IIT Mandi are expected to further strengthen their partnership in both education and research. The agreement will promote student exchanges and joint research opportunities, contributing to the development of highly skilled professionals with a global perspective. It is also expected to facilitate further academic collaboration through Japan-India bilateral research and exchange programs.
