On July 31, 2026, The University of Electro-Communications (UEC) concluded an Agreement for Academic Exchange and Cooperation and a Memorandum of Understanding on Student Exchange with the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar (IIT Bhubaneswar), India.
IIT Bhubaneswar is a national institute established by the Government of India in 2008 and is one of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Located near Bhubaneswar in the eastern Indian state of Odisha, the institute is a research-oriented university offering education and conducting research in a wide range of science and engineering fields, including basic sciences, electrical and computer sciences, mechanical sciences, infrastructure, earth, ocean and climate sciences, and minerals, metallurgical and materials engineering. The institute also promotes interdisciplinary research, industry-academia collaboration, and international education and research exchange.
The agreement originated from UEC's efforts to expand academic collaboration with universities in India. UEC has been promoting student and research exchanges with Indian institutions, and discussions with IIT Bhubaneswar have been advanced with a particular focus on student exchange and broader academic cooperation.
Through the conclusion of this agreement and memorandum, UEC and IIT Bhubaneswar have established a framework for further education and research exchange. The partnership is expected to promote student mobility and collaboration among faculty and researchers, contributing to the development of highly skilled professionals with a global perspective and to the further advancement of academic exchange between Japan and India.
