Report : UEC Concludes Agreement for Academic Exchange and Cooperation and Student Exchange Agreement with UFABC, Brazil

2026.09.10

On September 10, 2026, The University of Electro-Communications (UEC) concluded an Agreement for Academic Exchange and Cooperation and a Student Exchange Agreement with the Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC), Brazil (effective date: September 25, 2026).

UFABC is a federal university located in Santo André, São Paulo, Brazil, and was established in 2005. The university emphasizes interdisciplinarity, excellence, and social inclusion, and conducts advanced education and research mainly in science and technology fields. Through its three centers--Center for Mathematics, Computing and Cognition, Center for Engineering, Modelling and Applied Social Sciences, and Center for Natural Sciences and Humanities--UFABC offers education and conducts research in a wide range of fields, including computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, engineering, natural sciences, and the humanities and social sciences.

The conclusion of this agreement originated from ongoing academic exchange between faculty members of UEC and UFABC. Researchers at the two universities have maintained academic exchanges in related fields, and since October 2020, they have been conducting joint research and exploring plans for student exchange. Through the conclusion of this agreement and student exchange agreement, UEC and UFABC have established a framework for further education and research exchange. The partnership is expected to promote student mobility and collaboration among faculty and researchers, contributing to the development of human networks, the creation of new educational opportunities, and the strengthening of research capabilities at both universities, while further advancing academic exchange with Brazil and the broader South American region.
