Pushan Ayyub

Pushan Ayyub is a Professor in the Department of Condensed Matter Physics at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. His research interests concern the basic mechanisms that control the size dependence of physical properties such as superconductivity, ferroelectricity, ferromagnetism, and opto-electronic properties of solids in the nanometer regime. In the general area of nanoscience, he has over 125 publications in international journals and over 80 conference papers. He has given invited talks at over 40 international conferences and numerous national meetings.

Dr. Ayyub completed his M.Sc. (Physics) from Jadavpur University (Kolkata) in 1980 and Ph.D. from TIFR in 1986 on the physics of nanomaterials. He carried out post-doctoral studies at the University of Florida and re-joined TIFR in 1990. Currently he leads the nanomaterials activity at TIFR and is in charge of the Electron Microscopy Facility there. He was a member of the International Committee on Nanostructured Materials during 1998-2008 and is in the Nanoscience Advisory Group of the Govt. of India (DST). He has won several awards, the most recent being the National Research Award in Nanoscience and Technology (2010).
