Significant contributions:
Dr. Chandrabhas Narayana is an expert in ultra High Pressure Research (Mbar Pressures) and Raman spectroscopy (RS). His laboratory in JNCASR is the only laboratory in India currently practicing Brillouin Spectroscopy. The high pressure work done on hydrogen which appeared in the journal "Nature" is one of the corner stone in the area of condensed matter. Recently, he has developed the area of surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy to study small molecule interactions with therapeutic proteins to develop potent drugs as well as trace detection of nucleic acids without PCR amplifications. He has three international patents to his credit.

MRSI Medal in 2007 by Materials Research Society of India for "outstanding contributions in Material Science and Engineering".
CNR Rao Oration Award in 2009 from Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore.
