Tae Joo Shin received his BSc (1996), MSc (1998) and PhD (2002) from Department of Chemistry, Pohang University of Science and Technology. He moved to Brookhaven National Laboratory in 2002 as Research Associate. He returned to Pohang Accelerator Laboratory, Pohang University of Science and Technology in 2005 as Senior Researcher and became Research Staff in 2010. He is Head of SAXS (small-angle X-ray scattering) science group since 2009 and Head of PAL air/cooling supply system group since 2010. He is a member of Korea XFEL (X-ray Free Electron Laser) Science Committee in Chemistry area since 2009 for the preparation of the Future Light Source and Science. His main research interests come under the general term "Organic & Polymer Science", "Energy & Environment Science", and "Biological Science" but more specifically, Synthesis & Structural Characterization of High-functional Polymers, Organic Thin Film Transistors (OTFTs) for the Flexible Display Applications, Microscopic Dynamics of Condensed matter, New Cathode Active Material for Lithium-ion Secondary Battery, Hydrogen Storage, CO2 fixation, Structural Characterization of Biomaterials, Diagnostics & Therapeutics of Cancer, etc. His honors include the Best PhD Thesis Award in The Polymer Society of Korea (2002) and the Best PhD Thesis Award in Department of Chemistry, POSTECH (2002).
